River Wide, River Deep

One from the archives, taken back in February last year. A combination of twilight, a still evening and high tide provided an excellent photo opportunity. This is a composite of two exposures, manually comped together in Photoshop to make a panoramic view of the Humber beneath the famous bridge.

Although not necessarily in that order…

It’s been a while since I posted, which is very remiss of me. Just another Humber Bridge shot I’m afraid.

Note to self: Must blog more often!

The Point Of No Return

Tuesday last week brought more river fog, and this time I thought I would try up on the bridge as it looked a little dense at ground level. This is shot from the western walkway at the north tower, looking southwards. The top of the south tower is just visible above the fog.

Monday was one of those days. Sweet…

When sun rise and high tide coincide the Humber reveals its true beauty.

Losing The Light

Losing The Light by duncmc

An archive shot of the Humber Bridge from February this year. Again the high tide and stillness of the water made great conditions for photography. I have often been accused of adding the vertical light reflections artificially, but other than a white balance adjustment to remover the orange cast from the street lamps, and tweaking the contrast and saturation, this is as it came out of the camera.

It’s Been Forever Since

This one was taken in January this year – I stopped on the way to work one morning, arrested by the spectacular pink light cast onto the clouds from the rising sun. When I got down to the river I was thrilled to see the state of the water. The tide was high and the surface of the river was totally calm – my favourite conditions.

Light And Shadow

Another from the archives. This was taken in February this year and is another from my Humberscapes series. A night shot of the Humber Bridge, stretching out across the river looking south towards Lincolnshire. The shadows cast onto the water and the foreshore from the street lights on the bridge made for an interesting composition.

Above And Beyond

Here’s another view of the Humber Bridge in that incredible fog last Friday morning. I had the luxury of a little more time on this one. It’s had more processing and a more judicious crop, and for me it’s a better image.

Your Clouded Judgement

The fog rolling down the river this morning was awesome. I rattled off several shots, but this one grabbed me first, and there’s only time to process one before hitting the town tonight for a friend’s birthday drinks. More sunset pics to follow as well from tonight – another spectacle of nature, and quite different from the last few evenings.
