All These Places Feel Like Home from duncmc via flickr.
A well placed groyne provided a suitable camera platform for this half-a-second exposure on Hornsea beach. A polarising filter (the rim just visible at the corners of the frame) was all I had to slow down the shutter speed to achieve the blurry foam trails left behind by the receding wash. Shame about the horizon. Maybe I’ll have a tripod with me next time.

Out With The Old, In With The New from duncmc via flickr.
We drove out to the coast yesterday. It was nice and bleak, just the thing to blow away a few Christmas cobwebs. This was taken on the beach at Withernsea, deserted but for a few fishermen and a pair of photographers.

Outside Again from duncmc via flickr.
Thornton Abbey Gatehouse viewed from the outside as we were leaving. I really liked the place, it’s quite a gem and only seven miles from the Humber Bridge. Despite its being almost my doorstep I only discovered it while browsing images on Flickr.

Through The Arched Window from duncmc via flickr.
Eight hundred year old remains of the octagonal chapterhouse at Thornton Abbey in Lincolnshire. Very similar to this shot – I can’t really choose between them.

“Prinny Quay” As It Is Sometimes Known from duncmc via flickr.
There doesn’t seem to be much time for photography at the moment – most of my energy is going into a work-related project. But this just goes to show that I still occasionally get to wander the streets of Hull with a camera to hand.
Princes Quay Shopping Centre of course, taken from round the back at the south east corner of the Princes Dock.

A Distant Light from duncmc via flickr.
Groynes at high tide on the beach at Cleethorpes. The lighthouses at Spurn Point can just be seen in the far distance to the left of the marker.

Somewhere That’s Green from duncmc via flickr.
Yosemite Valley in July. After Vegas and The Grand Canyon it was a relief to get out of the desert sun and see a bit of greenery.

Power To The People from duncmc via flickr.
The sun was setting as we drove into Mojave after a long day on the road, and the last rays were glinting off the slowly turning blades of the wind turbines up on the hill. By the time we had checked into the hotel and unpacked the bags the best of the light was gone. A quick walk up the road yielded a few shots of the wind farm silhouetted against the final light in the sky.

Sentinels from duncmc via flickr.
I had a bit of space on Saturday morning and the sun was shining, so I went for a spin on the bike. Up Brantingham Dale and over the top, past this cluster of communications masts above South Cave, East Yorkshire.

Right Over My Feet from duncmc via flickr.
Another shot of the first buildings going up as part of the Boom development. This one is taken from under Myton Bridge, and includes a view upriver towards the old Rank mill and the Shotwell building. The Arctic Corsair at the rear of Hull’s Museum Quarter can be seen to the left.
