Ships That Pass In The Night by duncmc

Ships That Pass In The Night from duncmc via flickr.

Another from my foray into Lincolnshire a couple of weeks ago. This shot of the Humber Bridge at night is taken from the South bank, upriver to the West of the bridge. The light trails of two passing ships can be seen on either side of the tower.

The Way Home by duncmc

The Way Home from duncmc via flickr.

It has been some time since I photographed the Humber Bridge – over eighteen months in fact. I was over on the South bank last week, so having the opportunity to photograph the bridge on the way back was too good to pass by. The bridge was shrouded in a light mist, giving a nice volume to the light cast by the street lamps as it spilled over the edge.

Beyond Dark Castle by duncmc

Beyond Dark Castle from duncmc via flickr.

Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire, or at least what’s left of it – the keep and the moat basically. A bit of an experiment – I generally avoid shooting into the sun. Blown highlights are a pet peeve but I can just about live with it on this occasion.

Shot from the expansive beach at Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire. The Lynn and Inner Dowsing offshore windfarm at Skegness can be seen on the horizon.

Outside Again by duncmc

Outside Again from duncmc via flickr.

Thornton Abbey Gatehouse viewed from the outside as we were leaving. I really liked the place, it’s quite a gem and only seven miles from the Humber Bridge. Despite its being almost my doorstep I only discovered it while browsing images on Flickr.

Through The Arched Window by duncmc

Through The Arched Window from duncmc via flickr.

Eight hundred year old remains of the octagonal chapterhouse at Thornton Abbey in Lincolnshire. Very similar to this shot – I can’t really choose between them.

Groynes at high tide on the beach at Cleethorpes. The lighthouses at Spurn Point can just be seen in the far distance to the left of the marker.

Choir Of Angels

Choir Of Angels by duncmc

Choir Of Angels from duncmc via flickr.

The Angel Choir in Lincoln Cathedral (which at one time was the tallest building in the world).

The cathedral is a great building. I took lots of pictures but wasn’t really happy with any of them. This one has grown on me since one of my Flickr contacts commented that this ranks with my best. The interior was technically very challenging – under expose the surfaces or over expose the windows. Ideally it needs double exposures or some decent off camera lighting. Either way more thought, time and kit required to make a really decent job of it.
