Wake Me Up When September Ends

Wake Me Up When September Ends by duncmc

Wake Me Up When September Ends from duncmc via flickr.

Despite the weather I was quite happy with the way this turned out. This is one of a series from Hessle foreshore which I shot for an unsatisfactory (as it turns out) experiment with panoramic composition.

Rolling Down The River

Rolling Down The River by duncmc

A view I have taken before but under different conditions. Once again the recent weather has made for some spectacular cloud formations (with a little help in the digital darkroom).

Face To Face With A Ragged Truth by duncmc

Face To Face With A Ragged Truth from duncmc via flickr.

A shot across Brough Haven looking west into the distant storm. This was taken on the same occasion as my previous post, but looking in the opposite direction. The play of the light on the water was captivating, constantly shifting with the cloud formations.

Facing The Future

Facing The Future by duncmc

I generally try to avoid taking pictures with people in them, but on this occasion I think the figure adds something. I spent half an hour down at the river last Sunday, and the cloud formations were fantastic. I got a few decent pictures, some of which I will put up over the next few days, but this one jumped out as my favourite.

This was taken looking east along the Humber bank at Brough foreshore, East Yorkshire. There was a breeze blowing off the river. The post-processing included a tone-mapped (HDR) layer which I used to bring out the detail in the leaves and grasses, and the texture in the wall.

Here Comes The Rain Again

Here Comes The Rain Again by duncmc

Here Comes The Rain Again from duncmc via flickr.

I nipped out at lunchtime to grab a few shots of the effects of the torrential rain. Here the water flows down Prestongate in Hessle. As well as the run-off from the roads, the pressure in the drains causes water to gush up from below, lifting manhole covers.

Between The Stones by duncmc

Between The Stones from duncmc via flickr.

With a couple of hours to kill the other evening I revisited St. Mary’s church yard in Elloughton. For a while I have fancied a crack at some infra red photography, and this is the best of my first attempts.

Low View Of A High Tide

Low View Of A High Tide by duncmc

Low View Of A High Tide from duncmc via flickr.

Unusually high water down at the river – must have been a spring tide or something. A brisk breeze meant the river was quite choppy, resulting in mini-breakers on some of the more exposed areas of bank.

Through A Fresh Pair Of Eyes by duncmc

Through A Fresh Pair Of Eyes from duncmc via flickr.

I thought it was time I revisited an old haunt. I’m glad I did as a new viewpoint presented itself, one which I hadn‘t considered before.

Gloominosity by duncmc

Gloominosity from duncmc via flickr.

A longish exposure (3.2 seconds) on a gloomy evening just before dusk. Looking south over the Humber towards Lincolnshire from the footpath on the north bank at Brough. We made it back before the rain started properly.
