Yosemite Valley in July. After Vegas and The Grand Canyon it was a relief to get out of the desert sun and see a bit of greenery.

The sun was setting as we drove into Mojave after a long day on the road, and the last rays were glinting off the slowly turning blades of the wind turbines up on the hill. By the time we had checked into the hotel and unpacked the bags the best of the light was gone. A quick walk up the road yielded a few shots of the wind farm silhouetted against the final light in the sky.

I had a bit of space on Saturday morning and the sun was shining, so I went for a spin on the bike. Up Brantingham Dale and over the top, past this cluster of communications masts above South Cave, East Yorkshire.

Another shot of the first buildings going up as part of the Boom development. This one is taken from under Myton Bridge, and includes a view upriver towards the old Rank mill and the Shotwell building. The Arctic Corsair at the rear of Hull’s Museum Quarter can be seen to the left.

One of several electronic billboards pumping out the latest iPod advert at the Fashion Mall on Las Vegas Strip. The desert heat was practically unbearable, and the Ting Tings on a 20 second loop wore thin pretty quickly. Shut up and let me go – that pretty much sums up Vegas.

It’s been a while since I went out with the camera – work commitments have been getting in the way. Me ’n’ the missus spent an hour wandering around the marina last night, hoping to get something of the sunset. The sun set further north than we thought it would – not over the river at all, so most of the marina itself was in shade well before sundown.

I was pleasantly surprised by this shot of Nº One, Humber Quays – the clean lines of the building and the sunset colours have given it an illustrated or CGI quality which I really like.

The back door (or western entrance) to the new St. Stephen’s shopping centre in Hull. It’s an easy shot, but that’s it out of the way. Next time I might be able to see past it and get something a little less obvious (security permitting).
