Tribute
8th February 2008
Tribute from duncmc via flickr.
Whilst out and about the other day this stopped me in my tracks. This part of town oozes atmosphere as it is, but this floral tribute placed beside the River Hull was particulalry poignant. The derelict mill looming on the far bank echoed the sentiments of the wreaths and flowers, like some fading monument to a bygone age of industry and commerce. ace picture, how did you get the sky like that?

The sky? A combination of tonal adjustments in Photoshop (too involved to describe here) and a version processed using Photomatix.
That didn’t really give anything away did it :¬)

I love this building. One of my favourites in Hull. I drive past it regularly.
I think the tones are blooming marvellous on this.

Thanks Carl. I went for a desaturated look to complement the mood.

Dandy bit of work there dunc.

The wreath clinches what would otherwise be a nice, but uninteresting shot. As it is, it evokes, like you said, a feeling of the past being brought into the present. I like it. A lot.

Another nice one Dunc. I saw that wreath as well on saturday while driving past it and it puzzled me a little bit as it was an odd place to place it. There are several floral tributes all over hull, all with their own story. i would be very interested to find out what is behind this one.
