There’s No Time For Dreams

There’s No Time For Dreams by duncmc

There’s No Time For Dreams from duncmc via flickr.

I had to stop at Brough Haven again on the way home from work tonight. The sunset was a real corker. This long shot of the distant power stations belching their clouds smoke and steam drew my attention. As the sun sank below the horizon the lighting subtly shifted and altered. Of the many shots I took this one stood out from the rest due to the backlighting on those plumes. From left to right the three power stations are at Ferrybridge, Eggborough and Drax. very nice, saw the cloud smoke from Beeford on the way to Kingswood last night, looked impressive from there too.

Drove into Leeds this morning, with the city outlined against a superb sunrise. There were smoke stacks sending plumes into the red sky, and I wondered how they’d come out on a photograph. My guess is not half as well as these - absolutely perfect framing, composition, subject, colours and exposure.

I like how the plumes drift across the sunlit sky. I also like how the clouds strech horizontal across the picture.

Ah, the East Yorkshire Cloud Factories! They look almost majestic!
I’m fortunate to pass the location for this photo every night from work. Constantly changing sunsets, a real treat. Never had my camera with me, should make a note to take it along.
