Dashing Across The Road

Dashing Across The Road from duncmc via flickr.
I seem to have let things slip and it’s been a while since I posted. Last week the Hull flickr crowd met up for a walk around the Wincolmlee / Bankside area of the city. I wasn’t too hapy with the shots I took at first, but having started to work through them in Photoshop they seem to be shaping up quite well. This is one of the surprises – fairly bland image in the camera, but a bit of tonal work has really brought the sky to life.

interesting light (and processing).
the dark patch on the road looks like a shadow of a building out of shot, but the sun is behind the corner building.
surreal.

some of your photos are beginning to look like they are being prepared for plates in a novel, they are so descriptive that a story must follow each one, you are beginning to have a definite style to your work, we know a Dunc when we see one, rockin… tone…

Such a simple scene, excellently captured & brought to life.
Nice one.

Jam Adams Ta – it took a bit of ’shopping to make the best of it.
grif le riff I only noticed that “shadow” when it came to processing. I think it’s a repair to the road surface, but it does look a bit odd.
tonecoach On of the most flattering comments I’ve had, I’m humbled. Cheers Tone!
CMP73 Thanks, one word says it all
Nice to meet you in the real world the other night BTW.
fast eddie 42 Thanks. I spotted the potential of the road markings as a compositional device, and I’m pleased with how it turned out.

Isn’t that somewhere near Holderness Road??
Anyway, your photoblog is a nice reminder of my 2 months stint in Hull 2 summers ago.

I love your photos, but how can you not mention the marvellous Whalebone pub (just out of shot on both sides here)!!!
