Beneath The Dome

Beneath The Dome from duncmc via flickr.
The doric or tuscan temple on Rievaulx Terrace in North Yorkshire. The incumbent toff nicked the mosaic floor from the choir in nearby Reivaulx Abbey and had it installed here. A gross act of vandalism, without which the mosaic would probably not have survived the ravages of time.
Some more photos I took at this location can be seen on flickr, including a couple of shots of the ionic temple and picture of Nunnington Hall.

Thanks Jay. The HDR is just one part of the post processing, used to bring out certain details and to enhance the sky.

Great clouds & angle - very domineering. There’s great impact, but I hadn’t realised it was HDR ’til I read the tags (which is a compliment).
On a personal note, it’s great to see them too - we went to Riveaux recently, but by the time we spotted the follies on the hill above they’d closed the gates. Nice to see what we missed!

I have some shots of the temples somewhere in my archives but they do not compare with this, it is superb. My eyes follow the small wall to the column on the left of the door, up to the roof level relief and into the clouds. The angle and distortion work especilly well in B&W but I am sure they would look great in colour too. The original size would be even better.

This remind me of the game Myst. And that’s no bad thing.
Score 8/10 (from the Yorkshire Forward group)
Personally, there’s a little too much HDR-type definition for my taste and there’s something slightly unnerving but not enough so about the angle. But these are both minor criticisms - 8 is good from me

Excellent photo. The angle of the shot is great, and although I am not normally a fan of HDR, I think here it works well.

Hi, I’m an admin for a group called IMAGE`S OF BUILDINGS - OLD AND NEW, and we’d love to have your photo added to the group.
Great angle on this shot and that sky just makes it that extra special.
