The Pod on St Andrews Quay (West) in Hull. Carphone Warehouse this side, Jessops on t’other and Starbucks upstairs. It used to have a climbing wall inside, but I’m not sure if that’s still open.

The glass and sky interact well but (if I understand this image) I think that removing the base or advert would enhance the illusion.

@ pixell – I originally cropped into the orange base but felt that the composition suffered as a result. I also considered retouching out the hoarding, but frankly I am too lazy, having already removed a temporary roadworks sign in the bottom left. I do agree with your comment, and I must admit it hadn’t occurred to me to crop the orange base out entirely as per you note. I shall revisit at some point, and perhaps do an alternative version.

That sky is unbeleivably good. Yes it’s a shame about the bottom of the Pod but that dome and sky make up for it.

What it really needs is a temporary roadworks sign - maybe, say, in the bottom left?

great effort, yes the sky and upper structure flow easily together, but what a statement the orange makes to the image… also the climbing wall has been closed for a couple of years or more…

like it - very forboding, i wonder if contracts are signed in blood!

I’ve done security work based in the office on the Pod’s top floor - go up there one day and ask security for two things - a shot from Starbuck’s balcony (just the right height for a good shot of the river) and also the old games room on the top floor
