Fly Away Home

Fly Away Home from duncmc via flickr.
Having read about the so called “reverse lens macro“ technique I thought I would give it a try. This was taken in natural daylight with a 50mm lens held reveresed in front of my regular telephoto on full zoom. It’s a pity the highlight has blown out, and focussing isn’t perfect due to the very shallow depth of field, but given that it was all hand held I am quite pleased with the result.

I’ve heard of this technique. The results are astounding, especially considering the lens wasn’t intended to be used this way.

an admirable effort… I got some closeup screw on lenses from my son, a few of my recent closeup were taken with them… but I like your shot, you get the sense of entering the insect’s world…

Great shot, ‘limitations’ of the technique - the vignetting and dof really work.
